Where to Find the Layers Tab

To access mapping layers:

  1. Open your Project Overview.

  2. Navigate to the Layers tab at the top of the screen.

  3. A sidebar menu will appear on the left, showing available filters and layers.

The Foundation Data layer is selected by default if it was ordered for your project. If not, you’ll see the Utility Density Map instead.

Filtering by Sector and Object Type

To refine your view:

  • Click the arrow icon next to “Foundation Data”.

  • You’ll see a list of filtering options by:

    • Sector (e.g., Electric, Gas)

    • Sub-sector

    • Surface Object Type (e.g., Poles, Manholes, Pedestals, Hydrant, Inlets, Valves)

Check the boxes next to the data you want to display. This helps you focus only on relevant utility segments.

Land Ownership Layer

When the Land Ownership layer is enabled, parcels across your project area appear as color-coded shapes based on their zoning and activity type. This helps you quickly assess land use and identify key stakeholders.

Parcel Activity Types (Color Codes)

Each zoning category is shown in a distinct color:

  • Residential – Housing and living areas

  • Commercial – Retail, office, and business use

  • Industrial – Manufacturing or distribution zones

  • Institutional – Schools, hospitals, public service buildings

  • Emergency Infrastructure – Fire, police, EMS facilities

  • Utility Infrastructure – Utility-owned parcels

  • Government – Federal, state, or municipal land

  • Transportation – Roads, railways, airports, and related rights-of-way

  • Social Assembly – Religious institutions, event spaces, and cultural centers

  • Leisure – Theaters, galleries, and recreational clubs

  • Recreational – Parks, trails, playgrounds, and open community spaces

  • Agriculture – Farms, orchards, and working land.

  • Vacant – Empty lots or undeveloped land

Parcel Information

Click on any parcel to open a detailed info panel that includes:

  • Owner Name (e.g. FIRE DEPARTMENT)

  • Owner Type (e.g. Undetermined, Private, Government)

  • Zoning (e.g. Institutional, Residential)

  • Zoning Subtype (e.g. Social, infrastructure-related)

  • Land Value and Total Parcel Value (in dollars)

  • Address (e.g. 242 E 111TH ST)

  • Area (e.g. 6174.6 ft²)

  • Parcel ID Number (1103559)

  • Source Info – Data sourced from Regrid.com

ℹ️ Note: Parcel boundaries and property data are estimated and may not be survey-grade.

🏔️ Topography

  • Adds elevation data to your map to show hills, slopes, and terrain.

  • Useful for early feasibility checks or planning construction routes.

  • Reveals areas at risk of flooding, based on FEMA data.

  • Colored zones on the map represent different flood hazard categories.

  • Use the legend (black box) under “Flood Hazard Zone” to interpret the symbols, such as:

    • Regulatory Floodway (red stripes)

    • 1% Annual Chance Flood Hazard

    • 0.2% Annual Chance Flood Hazard

    • Special Flood Hazard Areas

    • Future Conditions 1% Annual Chance Flood Hazard

    • Levee-affected Areas (Reduced or Increased Risk)

Estimated ROW (Right-of-Way)

  • Highlights corridor space estimates relevant to your project.

  • Useful for route planning, scoping, and feasibility studies

  • Source Info - US Census TIGER/Line dataset.
